Demystified Software is a small game and software studio focused on creating fun, nostalgic, and engaging 2D games and SaaS products. We’re currently working on multiple projects using Phaser and GameMaker Studio, and we’re looking to bring on a talented 2D artist to help us bring these game worlds to life.
Overview
We’re hiring a 2D Game Artist who specializes in creating both pixel art and 2D digital assets for top-down, side-scrolling games and UI elements. You’ll be working directly with our developer (that’s me!) to craft cohesive visuals that match the tone and mechanics of each game.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Create 2D and pixel art assets for characters, environments, props, UI, and animations
Design spritesheets and tilesets optimized for Phaser and GameMaker Studio
Collaborate remotely through shared tools (email, chat, cloud storage)
Adapt art style based on existing references or design briefs
Deliver production-ready assets on a milestone basis
Requirements
Portfolio showcasing 2D game art and digital assets
Experience creating art for games (bonus if you’ve worked in Phaser or GameMaker)
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Own your own computer and creative software (Photoshop, Aseprite, etc.)
Comfortable working remotely on a flexible schedule
Reliable internet connection and communication habits
Nice to Have
Familiarity with frame-based animation or skeletal animation tools
Experience with UI/UX asset creation
Interest in indie or retro-style game aesthetics
Compensation
This is a 1099 contract role. Pay will be based on scope, experience, and availability. At the moment, we’re a small indie studio without funded equipment or software licenses — however, we do offer a small monthly work-from-home expense to help cover costs.
